We know whereof you speak because we tried to get credentialed in DC during the Nicaragua & El Salvador debacles. We were allowed access on a one-day-at-a-time basis. We were given similar "reasons" for refusal of a permanent pass--buyt the primary one was that space was limited for the print media & there was no place to put "little guys." We were allowed admittance via our Congressman (Ben Cardin) and that got us as far as we did get. Since when does a news service or newspaper have to turn a profit to be considered legitimate? That's bogus! USA Today undoubtedly has always had a pass, and they lost megabucks for years before turning the corner. One could have argued that it too was a "hobby" of its founder. Would you allow us to reprint your story? It fits in so well with the things we publish. Please send some bio info to put at the bottom. Maybe we could joint venture your credentials application. After all, you're in DC and we can't get there very often. Thanks for sending us your info.
