a fall 2007 film and speaker series

Citizenship, Literacy, and Media (CLM) celebrates citizenship, literacy, and different forms of new media. With a spotlight on education, CLM invites local students, teachers, and community members to discuss global issues with award-winning international experts in documentary filmmaking, international education, and social entrepreneurship.

8 p.m.
Film screening. Join us to watch Time for School, the first documentary in a WIDE ANGLE series that follows seven children as they seek their educations in seven countries worldwide.
October 2

7 p.m.
Film screening and guest speaker. Join producer Tamara Rosenberg to watch and discuss Back to School, the second film in WIDE ANGLE's ongoing international education documentary series.

November 13

9:30 a.m.
Participate in "Educating Global Citizens," a dialogue on twenty-first-century literacy education and social entrepreneurship with Vicky Colbert and Erin Krampetz. A public reception will follow.

Join award-winning international educators Vicky Colbert and Erin Krampetz for "New Schools, New Media, and New Curricula," a live video conference with Cynthia de Windt and Educational Programme officers from UNICEF.

CLM is co-organized by UTK faculty Jenn Fishman and Chris Holmlund with Carissa Stolting (series coordinator), Matthew Ownby (series assistant), and Ben Samples (web design). The CLM site is hosted and maintained by Chris Hodge and SunSITE.
