Major findings from two national research projects will be summarized. One project involved interviews with minority deaf and hard of hearing students completing secondary school. The second project surveyed minority deaf and hard of hearing individuals employed in professional and technical jobs. Personal and environmental factors that contributed to the success of minority professionals in postsecondary education and employment will be presented. These "success factors" will guide the exploration and discussion about the postsecondary and career paths of the cohort of minority secondary school graduates. Recommendations for enhancing transition experiences of minority deaf or hard of hearing students will be addressed.
