Through a variety of creative job development and placement strategies, "job ready" deaf and hard of hearing students at Seattle Central Community College are successfully finding and retaining gainful employment in their chosen fields upon graduation. Preparation for competitive employment begins long before graduation (e.g., Cooperative Education internships, Community Service volunteer work, "Job Preparation" courses, etc.). Simultaneously, educational trainings are offered to area employers on how to successfully integrate deaf employees into the workplace--leading to an increasing number of "deaf-aware" and welcoming work sites in the Puget Sound region.
