There is a crisis in education. Regardless of the reasons for the crisis, whether it involves the breakdown of the American family or the philosophy of inclusion, the role of the education professional cannot remain the same. Statistics from current education and mental health journals as well as our own personal experiences reveal the needs of the student have changed, and we must change hats to meet their ever-increasing needs. The pedagogical relationship needs to be expanded from the dissemination of information to a much broader perspective. The purpose of this presentation will be to show the audience how training in Control Theory/Reality Therapy can empower students to take more effective control of their lives.
