The North Carolina School for the Deaf in Morganton and Vocational Rehabilitation are participating in implementing a coordinated effort to better prepare students for life after secondary training. This includes pre-planning with the appropriate staff members, students and parents. It is felt that through this collaborative effort of developing the Individualized Education Plan (IEP), Individualized Transition Plan (ITP), and Individualized Written Rehabilitation Plan (IWRP), students will better be able to rise to the challenge of meeting postsecondary educational needs. The program is unique in its collaboration with educational programs offered in local public high schools through traditional mainstreaming as well as reverse mainstreaming situations.
