DeKalb College is providing technical assistance and outreach to business, government, and
academic communities in reading and writing for persons who are Deaf and Hard of
Hearing. DeKalb College instructors provide English instruction to employees who are
Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Training is also provided to hearing managers and supervisors regarding the unique English difficulties that employees with a hearing loss may experience on their jobs. A postsecondary perspective about English issues is being shared
with schools and teachers. The planning and process of these English outreach and
technical assistance projects will be shared with administrators, VR counselors, and
teachers.
