This workshop has four goals: (1) to share findings from a research study investigating
barriers to inclusive postsecondary education for deaf and hard-of-hearing students and
strategies for overcoming these barriers, (2) through small group conversations, to
facilitate the discussion of additional barriers and strategies, (3) to combine small group
ideas with those already identified through the research project, and (4) to create and
maintain an information dissemination network from participant names and addresses.
The focus throughout is on practical, classroom-based interventions, services, and
instructional strategies which can be used by teachers, students, and support personnel to
enhance access to postsecondary education.
