Since the passage of the ADA, the number of Deaf and hard of hearing students enrolling in
mainstream postsecondary institutions and the need for qualified interpreters on the
postsecondary level have increased. While many in postsecondary education recognize
this and speak of needing the best interpreters in postsecondary settings, many still
struggle with ensuring that this happens. This open forum, led by an experienced
postsecondary educational interpreter and a Deaf consumer of postsecondary educational interpreters, will focus on how interpreters, administrators, and consumers can forge partnerships to provide the best possible educational experience for Deaf and hard of hearing
students.
