Section II: Identifying the Support Services Needed by Students

Objective:  Encourage students to identify the support services which they will need in order to enter a postsecondary educational program.

Equipment/Materials:
·  An overhead projector and markers will be needed to record the responses of the audience participants.  A portable flip chart or dry erase board can be substituted for the overhead projector.

Activities:
Explain the different types of support services available to students.  Emphasize that each student must decide what support services he/she requires in order to be able to attend a postsecondary education program.

What Support Services Will I Need in the Classroom?

Discuss the types of support services which may be needed within a classroom setting.  Give a brief description of each service and how it can be beneficial for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.  Also, take time to emphasize that NOT ALL students will NEED the same services.
