Questions to Ask Them

Display the questions relating to the training programs offered, the availability of career counseling, extracurricular activities, and the success stories of other graduates. Other factors to consider may include distance from home to school, living arrangements, transportation, etc.

Explain the importance of each question and provide examples of both positive and negative responses of how institutions may respond. Here are some examples:
#1 Yes, we offer training in mechanics at our vocational technical institute
#2 No, we do not offer career counseling?
#3 Yes, we have intramural sports.  OR   No, we do not have a deaf student club.
#4 We have had an average of 5 students who are D/HH graduate from our program each year.  We provide job placement services and most of our graduates are successfully working in the field of auto mechanics.
#5 Our school does not provide dormitories or student housing, however, we do assist students in locating apartments near campus.

This part of the presentation can be lengthened by providing additional questions which are appropriate to ask postsecondary institutions.
- What are the prerequisites to acceptance into the major area of study?
- Does the institution offer the support services I need as a student who is deaf or hard of hearing?
