Explain what developmental
studies are and the role they play in postsecondary education. Be sure the audience understands that these
types of courses can not be counted as college credit. If the institution does offer developmental
studies courses, who is teaching the classes?
Are they knowledgeable of the unique learning needs of students who
are deaf or hard of hearing.

- Invite an instructor who teaches developmental studies at a
postsecondary institution as a guest speaker . The speaker can discuss the resources and
technical assistance that their program offers. Allow adequate time for the audience to ask
questions.

- Distribute the handout
titled Questions for Postsecondary Institutions. Allow the audience to select form the
outline topics which they would like to discuss.
