Literacy in the English Classroom and Beyond
English Think Tank - 2005 Conference

June 23-25, 2005
National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, NY

Conference goal:
The conference will serve to disseminate information on innovative and best practices for helping deaf students attain English literacy. It will provide a forum for practitioners to present papers on instructional practice as well as research.

Audience:
The audience will include those who work with deaf students at the college level, as well as those working at the pre-college level in institutes for the deaf, as itinerant or resource room teachers, or as mainstream teachers who have deaf students in their classes. Anyone whose work is related to the development of English literacy in deaf or hard-of-hearing students in middle school programs up to and through the college level is welcome.

Conference program:
The program will feature a keynote speaker, concurrent presentation sessions as well as an open discussion session at the end of the conference to formulate recommendations for future conferences. We hope to have two or three concurrent sessions during each time period.

The Call for Papers is now available at http://www.rit.edu/~thnktank/.
