>First, does anyone know Sturm's full name?
Julio posted a couple of days ago that he is Johann Christophorus Sturm
(1635-1703). Ivo Schneider, though, says he is also known as Leonhard
Christoph Sturm. My copy identifies him as "J. Christ. Sturmius, Professor of
Philosophy and Mathematicks in the University of Altdorf."
>Second, the copy of *Mathesis enuncleata* at the United States Military
>Academy at West Point is bound together with Sturm's *Introduction to
>Specious Analysis*. Is this an exceptional copy, or do other copies of
>the 1700 edition of *Mathesis enuncleata* contain this bonus?
My copy is as you describe.

A copy was listed in the catalog of Elgen Books in 1996 for $700. How
rare is that?
>Third, volume 1 (of three volumes) of Sturm's *Mathesis juvenilis* (1709),
>translated into English by George Vaux, is also at West Point. (Ed
>Sandifer might find this especially convienent.) In this volume are
>discussions of arithmetic, geometry, trigonometry, and fortification.
I'll try to get over and take a look, though Fred Rickey might find it
even more convenient. It takes me an hour and 20 minutes to get there, and it
only takes him about five.
