I was the conveyor of the Chapter in the Study Guide, about which Man-Kueng
speaks, that deals with the use of the history of mathematics in
pre-university situations, with adult learners returning to post secondary
studies, with students from diverse backgrounds which may or may not need
special services (these could be gifted, also), and with students in limited
resource situations. My colleagues writing with me from Australia, New
Zealand, Argentina and England have made most interesting contributions in
their own countries using the history of mathematics. For many of their
students, these historical experiences may be all they remember of their
mathematics studies.
