In numbertheory Wilson's therem, which we usually formulate in terms of
congruences, states:
if, and only if, p is a prime do we have
(p - 1)! + 1 is divisible by p.
David Wells says that it was only published by Waring in 1770, and he says
that Waring attributed it to Sir John Wilson, but that it was known to
Leibniz. It should also have been know to Fermat, since it follows from
his little theorem.
