Recent post by James A. Landau drew a good part of the history of Minimax
in game theory. Now the use of the term and notion by Poincare, Tait and
Thomson is not related to game theory, but to variation calculus. And the
question is to interpret this. What do they mean, basically, by minimax?
Has the same notion been transposed to game theory?
