Dear Clara,
No one seems to have mentioned yet that Kovalevskaya wrote an
autobiographical "Recollections of Childhood" (which includes Doestoevsky's
offer of marriage to her sister -- which she refused). This was
"completed" by a biography by Anna Carlotta Leffler (Mittag-Leffler's
sister). Both of these exist in English translation. There is also a book
by the Swedish writer Ellen Key about three women, one of whom is
Kovalevskaya, and one of whom is Anna Carlotta Leffler. I have a German
translation of this entitled Drei Frauenschiksale, which was published by
S. Fischer Verlag in 1908; they apparently published German translations of
several of Ellen Key's works.
