I read conversion between Gregorian and Muslim calendars requires position
and time of day, to resolve the four possible answers. Is this related solely
to International Date Line and the Muslim day beginning at sunset?

Note: My wife says the new year in the Muslim calendar begins with the month
of Muharram [there are twelve]. Each new month begins at midday the day the
sun overtakes the moon, i.e. the moon rises before the sun with the crescent
in one direction, and goes down after the sun, with the crescent pointing
in the opposite direction [the full moon is mid-month]. Chinese also use
a lunar calendar. The calendar in India?
