Dear Julio,

With great apologies I am replying today to a message you sent me on
December 20 in which you wrote:

I believe I was simply mistaken in that impression. In a list of "Dozenten"
in mathemtics at the university of Berlin on the Web, one finds:

Kronecker, Leopold. Lesendes Akademiemitglied 1861, ao.Prof. 11.5.1883 fu"r
Mathematik.
*7.12.1823 Liegnitz, +29.12.1891 Berlin. - L.:ADB 51,393. - S.:R.Kronecker,
Werke 5, 517. - B.:Ju"disches Lexikon 1927 ff. 3.913.

That reference to the Ju"disches Lexikon as a biographical source would seem
to make it plain that the authors of that work counted him as Jewish.

With best wishes from Berkeley (sunny again in our rainy season),
Martin
