The quotation marks around the words 'proof' and 'fact' of course
invites the question of what exactly constitutes an 'established
scientific fact' in your opinion. But even for those who insist that
scientific theories must be confirmed empirically, proof came much
earlier than 1837: Bradley found aberration in 1728, ironically while
searching for parallax.
