Dear Mr. Ottenstein,
in the article by J. J. Gray: Complex Curves - Origins and
intrinsic Geometry, pp. 39 - 50, in: The intersection of history and
mathematics/ed.: Chikara Saski ... - Boston, ..., Birkhaeuser, 1994
(Science networks; Vol. 15); ISBN 0-8716-5029-6, J. J. Gray pointed out
in a footnote, p. 39: "The best recent history of complex analysis is
the one by Bottazzini [1986]" and this 1986 reference is the one you are
looking for, I suppose: U. Bottazzini: The higher Calculus: a history of
real and complex analysis from Euler to Weierstrass, Springer-Verlag.
New York 1986. ISBN: 3-540-96302-2.
The address of J. J. Gray is as follows (I have taken it from the
Proceedings of the International Congress of Mathematics, Berlin 1998,
August 18 - 27, Vol. III: Invited Lectures; see
http://www.mathematik.uni-bielefeld.de/documenta/ ):
