this is just a quick remark in order to mention that according to
j. mathews: w.r.hamilton's paper of 1837 on the arith. of analysis,
in: arch. hist. exact. sci. 19 (1978) pp. 177
hamilton was the first ot envisage, though unsuccessfully, the
programme of 'arith.'
