Gregory J. Chaitin is not specialized as a historian, but the first two
sections of

"Randomness in Arithmetic and the Decline & Fall of Reductionism in Pure
Mathematics"

relate to Jeremy Gray's logicism issues, and are partly in story form. Both the
inclusions and the gaps in the story may be of interest to a historian

Chaitin states his case against the Hilbert program, with some surprise at
Hilbert's historical durability, and does so with clarity and style.
