Dear C. K. Raju,

We are doing research about History of
Mathematics in Rabbinical writings for about 6 years now.
One of our papers (in Hebrew) discussed a proof from the 12th century CE,
which derived the area of a circle from its circumference,
using infinitesimals. As you see, this proof (due to Rabbi Abraham
Bar Hiya Hanasi) preceeded Kepler et. al. by centuries.
We are currently working on an English (expanded) version of
our Hebrew paper.

We will be glad to cooperate, if you find this information
relevant to your studies.
