The story appears also in a delightful book by Karl Menninger, ALI BABA
UND DIE 39 KAMELE (Mu"nchen und Berlin: R. Oldenbourg, 1940). Ali Baba
had 39 camels, 3 sons, and 1 daughter. At his death, he left his son Ali
half the number of camels, Hussein received a fourth, Muhammed an eighth,
and to Fatima, the delight of his old age, a tenth. The heirs were
stumped about how to divide the camels among themselves. Then one day,
ibn Musa stopped by on his white camel and solved the problem for them.
