I think one should look at early papers (1907) by A. A. Markov, in Russian,
and Oleg knows it most probably much better than anyone. The first paper to
be published in "lingua franca" is:
- RECHERCHES SUR UN CAS REMARQUABLE D'E/PREUVES DE/PENDANTES, in Acta
mathematica 33 p. 87 à104, printed Aug. 2nd 1909. The Acta 33 is listed
as for 1910, but I understand it means a "scholar" millesimal, and that
this paper was published in October 1909. Am I right?
About a german translation of an early paper, appeared as annex to
- Wahrscheinlichkeits-Rechnung, Leipzig-Berlin, Teubner 1912.

Another question to Oleg or to anyone of the List: in this book on
Probability (translated from ***Ischislenie veroyatnostei, 2nd edition,
St Petersburg, 1908***), Markov does not say a word of Gauss, the name
of Gauss is not cited even a single time ! Nationalistic reasons ?
