I believe there is here a problem with common understanding: indeed Euler
(and Bachet, and Montmort, and who else?) studied problems which are now
solved by ways of methods from graph theory. It is not a reason why we
should consider Euler for a founder of graph theory.
I was privately invited to read some papers about this question, implying
"Poincar/e, Brunel, Sainte-Lague, and perhaps Tarry".
Still, again, can we consider Sainte-Lague as the founder, yes or no?
