Dear colleague,
the purpose of this is the organization of an international Conference on
20th century geometry, as a "second step" of the last Conference
"A Century of Geometry: 1830-1930 from C.F.Gauss and B. Riemann to
H. Poincare and E. Cartan" (Paris, Institut Henri Poincare, sept 18-23,
1989).
Since this meeting will once more induce a debate among philosophers and
historians of Sciences, mathematicians and physicists, we thought - in
order to make it fit its original aim - we should request ideas,
reflections, feed-backs and suggestions of the most instructed specialists
among these fields. The preliminary question to further reflection may be to
give a definition of "geometry" in the 20th century"
Amicalement
D. Flament
