Can anyone give me a reference as to who was (or is) the mathematician
J. Favart, who is said to have said something to the effect that 'to
many people geometry belongs to the art of demonstrating any property
[of geometrical objects, I guess!] by examining a wickedly chosen circle
and luckily joining points which were carefully picked up'.

This is my translation from a Spanish version. The reference is in Y. I.
Lyubich and L. A. Shor's 'Cinematic methodas in geometrical problems'
(Editorial Mir, Moscow, 1978; in Spanish)

Thanks
Romulo
