Great idea - look forward to this project. I bought a timeline chart
put out by IBM at (I think) the 1974 ICM in Vancouver which has been
a great treasure apart from being rather lacking in recognition of
women mathematicians. One of its good features was a few notes of
concurrent events or achievements from the non-mathematical world (if
such a world exists) - do you propose a similar link?
