There is a Netscape browser plug-in called Techexplorer, made by IBM,
that allows you to view (most) TeX files in the browser *without*
having to compile a DVI file first. There are also versions for
Macintosh and several flavors of Unix and Linux, but I can't vouch for
their reliability. Once Techexplorer is installed you should be able
to just open the file in the browser and view it.

The Techexplorer *viewer* is a free download. However, it is exactly
that--a viewer--and doesn't allow you to print. The "professional"
version does support printing, and will even help you write your own
TeX files (I understand it can even convert TeX to MathML). It costs
$28US; you can reach the techexplorer site at

http://www-4.ibm.com/software/network/techexplorer/

Note: this is not an advertisement for IBM. In fact, I have only used
Techexplorer to view and print files, never to author (I have my own
TeX system for that). But I have used it often to view and print on a
Windows 95 system with Netscape, and it has worked quite well for me.
