Annette,
The best and easiest way that I have found is Winplot which you
can download from:
http://math.exeter.edu/rparris/winplot.html
It has an EXCELLENT general-purpose plotting utility [for
Windows], which can draw and animate curves and surfaces presented in a
variety of formats. And you can easily paste them into your word
processor!
So much for hand-drawn figures, photo-copies taped onto your
original, and difficult-to-read bitmaps produced by some plotting
packages!! [Of course you can do bitmaps with this package also, but I
see no reason to bother.]
The help menus are REALLY helpful, too, unlike some on Micro$oft
programs! [Sorry, my bias is showing! :-) ]
