Beth,
I attend a small, four year, liberal arts college in Michigan. Most
of our students leave here with degrees in Education. This is the
strongest program we offer. Those students who wish to be High School
math teachers must graduate with a math major and must pass the Michigan
Teacher Certification Exam in Math.
Our Elementary Education students on the other hand have the choice to
declare Elementary Ed. as their major and choose two minors. Even if
they choose math to be one of their minors they must take and pass our Math
methods course before graduation along with the other Elementary Ed.
students. I believe that they also have to pass the Michigan Exam on
math but I'm not 100% sure. Rebecca
