Dear Beth Gambler,
I am currently becoming certified to teach math at the secondary level.
At Texas A&M University we are required to get a degree in Math or minor in
math(28-30 hours). We still have an education degree for elementary teachers,
but
they must choose an emphasis field (such as Mathematics). The course work
is quite rigorous.
This is probably no help in deciding why students are not learning Math.If
there was an easy answer someone would have figured it out already.
