AMATYC POSITION SENTENCE

Successful completion of a college mathematics course, which
has intermediate algebra as a prerequisite, should be a
requirement for an Associate of Arts degree. (For further
details and discussions see web page at...)

This short "position paper" from AMATYC would be
helpful for deliberations on our campus and, from the
discussions concerning the math requirements for AA degree,
believe it could have a positive impact on other math
departments.

Am also interested in testing how new procedures, such
as this listserv and other internet capabilities, might be
used to create consensus and adopt a position such as this.

Believe that it is possible to shorten the time span,
and the necessity for face-to-face discussion, and still
retain, if not improve, the quality of position papers by
the "appropriate" :-) use of technology.

Is this worth pursuing?
Dick
