Re: Use of calculators on exams/in class

I agree with Murphy's thoughts on how the calculator should be used. It
is a tool that enables students explore and discover relationships
without tedious work. I am a middle school mathematics teacher and am
currently in a MATH 515 course at NIU. The course is Using Technology in
Teaching Mathematics (and Science) in Secondary Schools. We batted this
question around - If graphing calculators are used in the instruction of
a lesson, can be used on classwork, homework, and exams, then what
paper/pencil graphing skills should students have? I would appreciate
your thoughts on this.
