I applaud your obviously high standards in math. Actually, I suspected this
was going on since we have had so many very dedicated hs teachers on this
list lately and since I have seen transcripts from some of the students who
are required to take remedial math. My question should have been - How the
devil do these students graduate despite having failed all their math
classes? Or do they? And maybe it is the suburban schools. Recall the
student who wrote in to this list a few days ago saying that he had a 99%
average in Trig and had made A's in Alg I and II but couldn't score over
610 on his SAT. Probably all my (and others) remarks about hs math
preparation don't apply to anybody interested enough to be on this list.
