I've never tried to manage a list with majordomo, but I have with
other listservers and they all seem to be quite similar.
With other listservers the owner can
Make the list confidential, meaning that the listserver software will
not include it in any of the lists-of-lists which it generates for the
curious. Nothing changes about the list, it just becomes necessary to
know the lists name BEFORE you can find out that there is such a list.
Make the list closed, meaning that nobody except people who belong
to the list can send mail to the list. Anything the members send is
sent out immediately. Mail from non-members is sent to the
moderator.
These two steps almost always lower the junk level to vanishing, or
nearly so.
