You are right on target. Unfortunately, unless SATS and all other measuring
devices
of students' achievements change, we have to include these topics. Many of
us definitely downplay their importance now that we have graphing
calculators, but they cannot be eliminated completely. Reform comes
s-l-o-w-l-y.
