I've have been in touch with a few of you sharing ideas about a math
scavenger hunt on the internet. I wrote items for such a hunt and gave it
to my classes to complete during the time I missed as a result of
the T-Cubed conference in Nashville last month. It was a hearty success.
The students loved it. I instructed them to use copy and paste from the
browser into their word processor. URL with the answer to the item had to
accompany the students' response. They learned a lot about searching,
software, MS Word, as well as some mathematics, math history, and other
tidbits.
The scavenger hunt is self-perpetuating as the last item asks for two
more items to add to the list.

searching, I told students how to search using the yahoo or alta vista
search engines or using the Gateway link from my home page.
