Just scanned Keith Devlin's 'Life by the Numbers' companion
to the PBS series (April 8 ff) by the same name.[1]
Does the linear, surface, volume powering thing, but of
course with squares and cubes instead of more economical
triangles and tetrahedra. Gets into cartography but
avoids mention of Fuller projection, into viruses but
not icosa morphology (knots instead), and of course has
lots of hypercross stuff, with the usual "trapped in
three dimensions" lingo (on target, if you're trapped
in academia).
Perhaps some more awake viewers/readers besides me will
notice the gaping holes and bleep-overs and provide some
feedback, helping to make this the last of the genre which
fails to do any serious homework at all re Fuller's useful
contributions. Oxbridge needs another kick in the pants if
we're to keep its gone-stale fare from ever-monopolizing
the media. Feedback from kids would be most effective, if
any are tracking.
Also scanned Castaneda's new book re Tensegrity calisthenics
('Magic Passes'). Good for couch potatos looks like. Would-
be sorcerers need to keep fit and eat right, no question.
Maybe don Juan and company will make it onto a Wheaties box
someday (move over Richard Simmons).
