jane-marie,
i, too, have been interested in creating a history of math course. my target
groups are the honors students (who are nearly 100% liberal arts and not
particularly numerate) and the math majors for whom this course would be a
recommended elective.

my research has led me to believe that such courses are rare at the cc level,
occur occasionally at the jr-sr. level, but are most prevelant at the graduate
level. the minimal of prerequisite that all the gurus at the national level have
suggested to me is pre-calculus (a strong grounding therein). because of this, i
have been discouraged from attempting to create such a course.

i would love to share any feed-back you get from this group or from any other
sources.

please keep in touch.
