Teaching
for the 21st Century"

ATCM'99 will provide an interdisciplinary forum for
researchers and teachers
in education, mathematics and mathematical sciences,
together with
researchers and developers of computer technology, to
present their results in
using computer technology and exchange ideas and information
in their latest
development. The conference will cover a broad range of
topics on the relevancy of technology in mathematical
research and teaching. These include but not
limited to:

1. computer-aided teaching in mathematical sciences
2. computer algebra (systems) in research and teaching
3. multimedia and distance learning
4. graphing calculators
5. mathematical research and teaching using technology
6. numerical analysis

The conference will consist of plenary sessions by invited
speakers, parallel
sessions by contributed papers, and tutorial sessions on
software and
hardware relevant to mathematical research and teaching.
Books, software and
hardware may also be on display.

Submission Guidelines

Abstracts

Your abstract must show title, author(s) and affiliation(s)
and must not
exceed one A4 or letter size page; see this example in pdf
format
(http://www.cs.runet.edu/~atcm/ATCM99/GUIDELINES/abstract.pdf.
Abstracts
can be submitted by electronic mail in either generic LaTeX
(no special
style files other than those provided in LaTeX) format, in
HTML (Hyper Text
Markup Language), or ASCII text form. Use the LaTeX template
or the HTML

template or the ASCII template provided at

http://www.cs.runet.edu/~atcm/ATCM99
if at all possible.

Also, abstracts can be submitted electronically via the WWW
from the site
(http://www.cs.runet.edu/~atcm/ATCM99/SubmitForm.html).

Or, if you have no access to internet email, you can submit
your abstract as
a hard copy by postal mail.

Accompanying each abstract (except for submissions via the
Web), you must
include a text file/typewritten page that indicates the
primary contact person.
Information of the contact person includes full name, postal
mailing address,
email address (preferred), phone number and fax number if
any.

Each abstract must be sent to both chairs of the
International Program
Committee.

Notification of acceptance of abstracts for presentation at
the conference
will be sent out on 15 July 1999. Also, authors of accepted
abstracts will
be invited to submit the full paper version. All full papers
will be refereed.
Accepted full papers (that are presented at the conference)
will appear in
the Proceedings (Hard Copy) and the Electronic Proceedings.
Submission
guideline for full papers is given next.

Full Papers

Papers shall not exceed 10 printed A4 pages (12 pt and no
less) in length.
Papers contributed by Plenary & Special Session Speakers
shall not exceed
15 printed A4 pages (12 pt and no less) in length.

Detailed specifications are given in full guidelines as PDF.
Specifications
relating to page dimensions, font size etc. are given in
page specifications in
page specifications (a PDF file). (If you use the LaTeX2e
proforma format, all
these specifications are taken care of automatically.)

You must choose any one of the following two formats to
submit your full paper.
The Editor-in-Chief/Editors reserve the right not to publish
in the Electronic
Proceedings, or EP, papers which are in exotic format X
(regardless of
acceptance by referees based on content), if, in their
judgment, it is too
difficult to achieve a uniform style in the EP with papers
in exotic format X.

HTML

The use of HTML should be restricted to articles that have a
minimum of
mathematical symbols. All figures must be in either GIF or
JPEG format. All
references should be cited using the numerical system (e.g.,
[3]) in the
order in which they appear in the text. All references to a
Web Site should
be written using the anchor tag.

If you are preparing your document using some word
processing software
which has a conversion-to-HTML facility, please follow the
guidelines given in
the page specifications.

LaTeX2e

Guidelines in LaTeX2e format are given in this file. The
guidelines can be used
as a LaTeX2e template. They contain a description of how to
include any
postscript (EPS/PS) files. In order to run this file
Guidelines.tex you will

need to download also the files atcm99.tex, bibtexlogo.sty,
and fourierfig1.eps.
Make sure you use the correct filename when "save".) A copy
of this file can be
viewed as a pdf file.

Tutorials

The ATCM'99 would like to invite educators and researchers
in mathematical
sciences to submit proposals to conduct tutorials for
participants during the
conference. The scope of proposal should be consistent with
the themes of
ATCM'99. The ATCM'99 will be an excellent opportunity for
the computer
hardware, software and calculator companies to bring in
experts to conduct
hands-on tutorials for the interested participants in
ATCM'99. We expect to
attract over 400 educators and researchers around the world.

Guidelines for submission follow the same as submission for
abstracts and/or
full papers where applicable. Accepted full proposals will
be compiled in the
Electronic Proceedings only. The URL will be published in
the hardcopy of the
Proceedings. Tutorial proposals should also indicate the
proposed number of
hour(s) to conduct the tutorials, and equipment needed.
Notification of
acceptance will be sent out on or before August 30, 1999.

Interested parties may submit the ABSTRACTS and FULL
PROPOSALS to BOTH parties

Exhibitions

ATCM'99 will provide spaces during the period of the
conference for software,
hardware, calculator companies, and the book publishers to
display their
latest products or books in the field of mathematical
sciences.

Fee for one exhibition area of 3 by 9 square feet: US $500.
To reserve an exhibition area at ATCM'99, please send a
cashier's check or

adjacent to Hong
Kong and Macao. With a strong staff and complete
disciplines, GNU is dedicated
to training qualified personnel for the elementary education
and the social and
economic development of the city.

GNU is easily accessible by all means of transportation.
During ATCM '99, GNU
will provide a shuttle bus service between the campus and
the Baiyun
International Airport and the Guangzhou Railway Station.

We can arrange the following accommodations for the
participants:

Guest House : US$22 per night
Academic Exchange Center, GNU (3 Stars) : US$35 per night

China Hotel (5 Stars) : US$148 per night

*All the rates given are on the basis of a standard hotel
room with two
separate beds. If you want to share a room, each of the
roommates pays
half of the price. Price does not include breakfast. Cost
of breakfast
is very affordable though.

** Early registration is desirable, for it might be
difficult to book a
hotel room during the Christmas vacation.
