POSITION TITLE: Instructor, Mathematics
PAY LEVEL & STEP: 29/01 to 35/08 Depending on Qualifications
ANNUAL SALARY: $22,428 to $39,931
LOCATION: Science, Math, Health & Physical Education
Opening Date: 4/13/99 Closing Date: 4/27/99

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Teaches a minimum of fifteen credit hours per semester in the areas
of developmental math, precalculus, and calculus. Is willing and able
to use a graphing calculator in all courses taught.
* Is willing to travel to Tinian or Rota campuses to teach courses and
to coordinate other department activities as needed.
* Prepares and revises curriculum and course guides for mathematics
courses. Reviews textbooks and other curricular materials for
adoption, and recommends books to library to support courses.
* Participates actively in departmental and/or institutional
committees.
* Participates in academic advising of Liberal Arts students.
* Shows commitment to work in an environment committed to Total
Quality Improvement (TQI).
* Assists department in developing and achieving goals and objectives
related to area of expertise. Works cooperatively with other
departments and programs in implementing NMC's goals.
* Participates in available professional development activities,
including TQI training.
* Performs other related duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's or Doctorate degree in Mathematics Education or Mathematics.
Two (2) years teaching experience at the college level, with an
emphasis in developmental math education desired. Successful
candidate should be computer literate and comfortable with technology
and alternative delivery systems, especially the use of graphing
calculators in all math courses. Able to apply innovative
instructional methods. Must be a "team player." Experience teaching
in a multicultural environment preferred.
