I haven't had the luxury of setting up a model technology classroom, but
was able to pick furniture to set up a classroom for cooperative work. I
love the classroom.

We picked out trapezoidal tables that can be put together to make long
tables or can be configured with two together to form a hexagon. The room
is set up in hexagon form now but can be reconfigured for test taking. In
the hexgon form, the instructor as well as students can get to any part of
the room easily. That helps in assisting in group work as well as students
putting their work on the boards that cover all four walls.

The colors are greys and burgandys. The chairs have wheels. For the first
time, I did not have trouble getting my students to talk with each other
during their first group exercise. They seemed less tense from the
beginning. Some of our instructors hate the room and others have begged to
be moved to the room.

If you try something similar, the only mistake that I feel we made was not
checking to see if the chairs would fit under the tables. The legs of our
chairs are too wide for the chair to roll under the shorter sides of the
tables.
