I actually don't get too much of this; maybe that's because I come
across as such a strict/nasty person (to my students) -- or, maybe it's
because of gender. (I honestly do believe that female math instructors
tend to get more complaints like this than males; if this is true, I
would blame it on societal problems with gender roles.) >>
This has nothing to do with gender. I know several male teachers who are NOT
in control of their classes. I am small, female and young looking and I have
NEVER had a problem with my students not knowing who is in charge.
Honestly, the future elementary school teachers tend to just be complainers.
Not all, of course, but more than the usual class. I don't know what this
says about our society's future.......
