At Orange Coast College, we would not give credit without AP exam. And I
think with it, only for a 4 or 5. Our experience has been that they really
aren't ready for rigor of our 3rd semester after BC exam. I prefer giving
them unit credit but not subject matter credit and have them repeat at least
last course for which they passed in AP.

We've put in an honors sequence in calculus specifically for those who
passed BC exam. (Often coming to us as high school seniors). Now it also
includes students without AP experience. Require that they take one semester
Business Calc first. We do Calc 1 and 2 in one semester with high emphasis
on theory. Have found tho' that have to also include much integration or
they are too weak. Then we one unit honors course accompanying Calc 3 and 4.
(Differential geometry; topology). And a fourth semester course in calculus
on manifolds. Probably too ambitious, although those who finish sequence are
doing very well when they transfer to UC Berkely, UCLA, Stanford, etc. We
may be paring the course back some in the near future.
