My absolute favorite math book is "Innumeracy" by Paulos. Over the
years I have purchased around 8 copies...gifts, loans etc. It is the
most entertaining mathematics books I've read. My family thought I was
nuts... laughing as I read. I have "borrowed" some of his examples (stolen
is such a serious word)...like AIDS testing to grab the student's attention.
Yes there was a book called "How to Lie with Statistics". The copy I
have is from the mid 60's (it was side reading when I took my first stat
class). I don't have it here...but at my office. If you would like I'll
look up the author, but I don't know if it is still in print.
One last comment... John Allen Paulos's newest book "A Mathematician
Reads the Newspaper" is a great resource book too.
Thanks for the additional resources & kind words.
