Concerning on-line classes:

I went to a video conference put on by the New Media Centers
Consortium (http://www.newmediacenters.org) --- the topic was "Web based
courses." By far the most informative section was presented by 2 people
from DeAnza College (in CA). They talked about the support that faculty
needed to jump into this media. Here are some sources for those interested:

Beth Burruss is the Distance Ed coordinator and her email is:
grobman@aspen.fhda.edu

The 7 major areas of faculty support were given as:
content
Instructional Design
Graphic/Interface Design
Programming Support
Server Installation
Administrative Support
Maintenance

All but the first are usually outside of the facutly's expertise. Hope this
helps.
